October Body Care Favourites

It's pumpkin season!

I love watching autumn roll in, in a flurry of pumpkins, cosy jumpers and premature mince pie displays at Tesco’s. As soon as the calendar flips over to October, I swap my summer wardrobe over for my winter garb and hang up my turtlenecks with glee. The daily iced soft drinks become strong, hot mugs of builders brew and there’s candles flickering on every surface.

I love this yearly cycle and its mundane seasonal rituals, but one thing that gets me every time is the noticeably drier skin as the temperature drops outside and the harsh heating comes on inside. In the same way that I swap around my wardrobe, I also pull out the skin oils and thicker moisturisers from by bathroom caddy. Following on from my recent post on skincare favourites, today I want to share some body products that I’ve been turning to, that keeps the dry skin at bay.ย

L'OCCITANE ALMOND SHOWER OIL

This indulgent almond shower oil gently lathers and cleanses your skin without drying it out. I was sold by it’s unique texture and the subtle but gorgeous smell of sweet almonds. It’s great for lazy days when you can’t be bothered to moisturise after showering, as it leaves your skin so soft but never greasy. I like using it to shave my legs, as it has the perfect amount of slip for a smooth shave. Somehow this never leaves my bath slippery either so you don’t have to fear for your life every time you use it (looking at you, Nivea In-Shower moisturiser ๐Ÿ‘€).

L'OCCITANE SHEA BUTTER HAND CREAM

I love having a luxurious hand cream at my desk whilst I’m working; I fell in love with Crabtree and Evelyn’s Gardener’s Therapy but heartbroken by their rebrand, I jumped ship to L’Occitane and haven’t looked back. This hand cream is sooo nourishing and rich; it’s been a saviour since lockdown with all the constant handwashing. It’s made up of 20% shea butter aswell as almond, honey and coconut oils. It has a strong perfume like most L’Occitane products, but I love it personally. It can feel a bit greasy if you squeeze out too much, which I am always guilty of but otherwise tends to absorb well. The massive 150ml tube has lasted me over a year now and will be a definite repurchase.

I’ve also loved the innovative “Magic Key” tube squeezer that goes with it, as it helps to squeeze out every drop of hand cream. As you can see from the photos, it’s squeezed the tube down flat. For a while it lived in my kitchen drawers because I was using it on my tomato paste tubes!ย

SANCTUARY SPA CLASSIC SALT SCRUB

This is the most pampering salt scrub ever and has the most divine scent. Featuring Dead Sea Salt aswell as almond, coconut and jojoba oils, this scrub will leave your body exfoliated and glistening like a sensual goddess. Use before shaving for the smoothest shave of your life. I love using this for fancy events where I have limbs on show, as the oils leave my skin so glowy, shiny and moisturised, like a red carpet star. You can get convenient single serve travel sachets in Boots, so you can pack it in your washbag for events and holidays. The scent is a sensual mix of patchouli, jasmine and sandalwood; it definitely has an evening/night time vibe. The scent is really strong and particular so I would advise trying the travel sachet first if you’re not into warm floral scents. I’ve been using this for years and couldn’t rave about it enough!

that's all, folks!

I hope you enjoyed my edit of pampering body care! What’s your favourite skincare products going into autumn and winter? I’d love to hear your thoughts so drop me a comment below! ๐ŸŒผ
